My name is Kristy Hutchison, and I'm an author. I'm also a voracious reader and have been fascinated with vampire stories ever since I can remember. I realize that the market is glutted with vampire novels at the moment -- BUT, and forgive me for stating the obvious -- I think vampire stories are eternal. Those of us who love vampires will continue to read about them as long as the story resonates with us.

This website is all about my novel but it's much more than that. I've added several pages that I hope will appeal to a broader audience, and yeah... it's selfish, too -- I hope along the way you'll get sucked in and eventually want to read my book. There's something for everyone, and everything here ties into the book in some way: recipes for foods that were mentioned in the story, links to all things Scotland, Ireland, music that my characters and I would listen to, research I did about everything from lime-based paint to skeet shooting, and the business of writing (keeping in mind that I'm not an expert). My random stuff page is full of websites that I find interesting.

My book is tentatively entitled "Born on a Day When the Sun Didn't Shine," a modern paranormal romance set in Scotland (written to be book one in a series). It's a vampire novel, but at the heart of it, it's a story about love, loss, hope and all the things we go through in our own lives. I like to say that it's an emotional story with the lightness and humor of chick lit, the passion of romance, and the dark glamour of vampires. As for the vampire part, I've put my own spin on the vampire legends; adding to them, but respecting them as well.  The three things that make my story unique are: the story of how vampires came to be, why they can't see their reflection, and a link between vampires and zombies.

As to where I am in the process... I'm not published yet... I'm currently querying agents, which is an incredibly humbling and terrifying (some might even suggest, stupid) thing to do. I'm putting myself out there to be judged, and even though I (usually) have faith in myself, it's still easy to become discouraged. So if you like what you see, I'm afraid you'll have to be patient for a while, but in the meantime you can take this journey with me and I hope you enjoy the ride.

Thank you for dropping by to visit http://kristyhutchison.weebly.com, I hope you find it enjoyable and/or useful. You can let me know what you think via the Contact Me page, or you can post comments on my blogs. I like to get feedback and talk to people, and if you have ideas for more things you would like to see I'd love to hear about that, too.
